This is the innaugural first ever post for PalmWebOS.org and oh what an exciting time it is for loyal Palm fan’s out there. Many of us would admit that we’ve weathered the storm for quite some time but now our “team” is back on top with the Palm Pre and Palm WebOS so get ready for the entire world to hop aboard the Palm bandwagon.

When the Palm Pre was announced at CES 2009, it took the entire industry by storm. Many analysts predicted that Palm would need a huge announcement and great device to resurrect the company, or even worse, to avoid bankruptcy/liquidation/takeover. And although we were looking for a Hail Mary, nobody ever thought that Palm would so gracefully come up with the game changing/winning play that would have people talking about how Palm singlehandedly surpassed Apple and Android.

Palm WebOS is a Mobile Operating System with open standards that will allow 3rd party developers to create meaninful applications using the CSS, XHTML, Java and other standards with which they’re already familiar. It will make mobile development easier and more fluid and provide distribution of the applications on the Palm App Catalog.

Apple and Android are two brand new players who almost instantaneously surpassed the rest of the market to create a league of their own. Palm is now part of the exclusive company owning mobile platforms that will take us into the next generation. And it seems now that Palm is in the best position to capitalize. With a long and proud history in mobile handset development, many are already comparing the platforms and saying that these 3 are the only competitors. And many of those same analysts are pegging Palm WebOS as the best of them all.

As of now, all of this is just speculation. We’ve just read the Prelude to the story and now its time to follow along as we lead up to the release of the Palm Pre and the announcement of other amazing devices on the Palm WebOS.

We plan on providing you news about specific Palm devices like the Pre that run WebOS, but also about the operating system as a whole, applications on Palm WebOS, industry developments in regards to palm, Palm WebOS rumors and everything that is Palm WebOS related.
