Developer Community Manager Announced
| by PalmWebOS.org on February 9th, 2009 |
The Palm WebOS Developer Community now has a manager to help facilitate work with the brand new Mojo SDK. In an interesting twist possible only on the interwebz, Chuq Von Rospach made the news public with an announcement on his personal blog.
So anyway, Friday the 13th is my last day at Laszlo, and starting on the 16th I’m going to become the Developer Community Manager at Palm, working with the new Pre phone SDK. I am absolutely jazzed, too, and can’t wait.
Chuq has worked at Apple in the past and, interestingly enough, was considering taking a position on the iPhone development team but decided he didn’t want to take that load on his shoulders. His comments give us an interesting look into the corporate culture at Apple.
I actually did do a little exploring at Apple when I started looking around, including some positions open in the iPhone group. My friend on the inside looked at those positions and asked me “why are you considering that? you told me you wanted a life!” and that pretty much ended that. When I was there, I’d steer people away from certain organizations I knew to be rather gung-ho on schedules (shall we say), like the Apple online store folks. It’s never a bad idea to trust someone trying to protect you from yourself….
But he would end up going to Palm and he says the process that led him there was complicated. If he reveals that story, we’ll be sure to let you know. For now, Developers should be happy they have a faithful leader to guide them through a sure-to-be-awesome 2009!
Is it me or does he look a lot like Andrew Shabanow?
