PreDevCamp: WebOS Development Catalyst
| by PalmWebOS.org on February 10th, 2009 |
Open mobile platforms are a beautiful thing and PreDevCamp illustrates exactly why. The group – started by Giovanni Gallucci, Dan Rumney and Whurley – is described on their about page:

preDevCamp is an upcoming not-for-profit gathering to develop applications for Palm Pre using both the Mojo SDK and traditional web standards. The event is currently being planned in over 60 cities around the world.
But what this is REALLY about is developers from around the world coming together and deciding to embrace a platform. Taking tools, building blocks and structures, adding in ideas, hard work and collaboration and truly twisting a company’s open code into something that becomes their own. Best of all, they’ll get to see their hard work in the hands of hundreds of thousands of Palm Pre owners in coming months. And as more and more Palm WebOS based devices come out… the sky is the limit.
It’ll be interesting to see how these 60+ cities come together. Here is what Giovanni Gallucci had to say by way of BoingBoing:
We plan to bring mobile and web developers together for a day of webOS application building, networking and fun. This event is associated in no way with Palm, Inc. It is completely driven by private individuals that are simply interested in developing applications on the new Palm pré.
Our city is listed and we plan on attending. Is yours listed? If not, why not start a PreDevCamp in your area? What are you waiting for – hop on it before the phone is called the Post!
