We hope this isn’t the ENTIRE extent of their surprise update at Web 2.0 tonight, but if assumptions are correct than it looks like your brand new Palm Pre with WebOS will offer support for all those old school Palm OS applications you hate to see go!

The folks at PreCentral were given a demo of the Palm Pre and they noticed a peculiar little icon called “Classic”. Palm refused to discuss this particular application but speculation is that the application is actually an emulator that would allow you to run any Palm OS app from back in the day. Oh yeah, baby… the PreCentral folks are spot on when they say, “The Pre’s app library just got a lot bigger.” We just hope it is true.

That being said we are still pulling for the public launch of Mojo SDK at Web 2.0 but this is a darn good consolation prize if nothing else.
