I didn’t say it… and I don’t think it will. But TechCrunch/CrunchGear have written an article, referencing the BGR Palm Pre-view, claiming that the hype is way too high and the actual device will be run-of-the-mill, mediocre and everyone will forget about it in no time. Apparently Eric Zeman from InformationWeek thinks the same thing.

But yet they compare the Palm Pre to the T-Mobile G1, a phone that must have done SOMETHING right because Android has been the highlight of Google I/O thus far and the hype behind Android – at this point in time – is rivaling the type of buzz and excitement usually reserved for Apple.

The Palm Pre isn’t what will save Palm – WebOS will. The Palm Pre will be successful but it is just a small part of the overall plan. It is the first forray into Palm’s next generation platform. It might not be perfect… but Palm is going places, WebOS will be to thank and the Palm Pre will be a formidable opponent for the iPhone and Android. Afterall, that same BGR article referenced in saying the Pre will fail also declares it as the 2nd best phone in ALL of the land – between the iPhone and G1.

Want to know the moral of the story? Some sites will say anything to get a few more clicks/hits/links. I call BS.

Where does the BGR article say that the Pre will fail?

@Paul – it doesn’t, BGR only mentions a few negative points. The TechCrunch/CrunchGear is the fail.

There are no convincing arguments as to why WebOS will be that successful, or superior to the iPhone OS, especially when you wrap it around the full Apple ecosystem. Trying to do a feature by feature comparison is a joke as it does not address the full nature of an OS. This site is a sham site by Palm and as such is a misuse of the .org extension reserved for non-profits.

@FreeRange – considering we also run Phandroid.com, MobileRoar.com and VerizonVoyager.org, perhaps you should rethink your assertations.

This article isn’t a feature by feature comparison and I’m not suggesting WebOS will surpass the iPhone in any way/shape/form. I’m simply saying it will NOT be a complete failure as stated by others.
