What a weird turn of events. A few days ago  the CEO of Verizon Wireless, Lowell McAdam, dropped word that not only will the company soon offer the BlackBerry Storm 2, BlackBerry Tour and Android Phones but they would also add the Palm Pre in about 6 months.

Verizon, the No. 1 U.S. mobile service, will offer Pre in “six months or so,” company Chief Executive Lowell McAdam said during a conference webcast.

McAdam continued, saying that Verizon Wireless would get the Palm Pre “and a cousin.” Sounds like the Palm Eos if you ask me, or perhaps another phone that is yet to be leaked/rumored/announced.

This news is potentially very damaging to Sprint. Verizon Wireless has a long line of loyal customers, many of which were likely considering jumping ship to Sprint and the Palm Pre. Knowing that they’ll be graced with WebOS and Android within about  6 months will probably keep many people put.

Surely Sprint has to respond to these allegations, right? Right.

James Fisher, a Sprint spokesman, confirmed that the company only has exclusivity for the remainder of 2009. The Palm Pre launches on June 6th. Lowell McAdam said they’ll be getting the Pre within about 6 months. Six months after June 6th is the beginning of January.

I think it is safe to say that the Verizon Palm Pre is coming in January and Sprint seems to be acknowledging this as well. So Verizon customers, how does this make you feel? Were  you going to jump ship at one point but now stay put?
