In a meeting of the minds, top tech journalists Leo Laporte (TWiT Live) and Mike Arrington (TechCrunch) are just about to talk about the smoking hot Palm Pre. But then something goes TERRIBLY wrong…

While Laporte may have over reacted a bit, Arrington certainly comes off as a jerk. Perhaps jealous he didn’t get a review unit, combined with his distaste for embargos and other traditions of media, he got a little too big for his britches.

Laporte brought him back down to earth but now we don’t get to hear them talk about the Pre… oh noes!

Good for Leo. TechCrunch is the worst tech blog out there.

Wow that was incredible. Like something we weren’t supposed to hear. Arrington is really is a jerk. He is also incredibly ignorant to even hint that Leo is going to alter his review based on a loaner Pre. Leo has worked incredibly hard to always say what he thinks (good and bad) about a huge spectrum of technology products and services across the board. I’m glad Leo stuck up for himself, this is unacceptable by Arrington. Now, I don’t think Leo is the end-all-be-all but he has made a huge impact on the tech reporting industry and has arguably added credibility to a whole slew of bloggers and websites over the years through his pioneering style. He truly is one of the modern architects of honest and enthusiastic tech reporting. Reporting that speaks to a huge range of individuals from the most technical to the layman.

Lastly, when a person has such a long history of never reacting in this way it strongly points to Arrington being way out of line. And Arrington posting a supposed apology under a ‘news article’ by the name of ‘ouch’ is weak as well. Arrington should find another line of work.

I have watched Gillmour Gang for weeks and Mike Arrington has come off as antagonistic many times. He talks with an authoritative and all-knowing tone and has a sarcastic and demeaning way about what he says. I thought that it was important for him to say that disclaimers needed to be stated about how Leo got the phone, but Mike did not need to say it in a way that sounded like he was possibly accusing Leo of being bias. A lot of times, it’s not what you say, but how you say it.

I understand Leo’s frustration. It has been building for some weeks anyway against Arrington’s arrogant mouth from previous Gillmour Gang shows. I think that Arrington got what he deserved and I hope that Leo sticks to what he said about not hosting the show anymore. Leo did fly off of the handle “a little” too quick as if he were looking to get it started with Arrington, but hey — I understand. I must admit that I am a fan of Leo’s and have watched him for many many years on TV and the TWIT network and have even listened to him on radio, but looking at this entire incident, I hope that Mike Arrington of Tech Crunch gets a reality check and thinks of how he presents himself on the air. There are a lot of us who thinks that he is a smart-mouth, negative-acting jerk.
