Facebook Lives In The Palm Pre (VIDEO)

Remember the Palm Pre Oversized Facebook ad we were so eagerly anticipating? It is has been officially published by Sprint!
Compared to the commercial they aired on Facebook called Flow, this is pretty bad ass. Two very different approaches but I’m really diggin’ it. You? I suppose the difference is “Flow” was made by Palm while “Facebook” was made by Sprint.
As you can see the chick/musician in the video is named Joanna Gikas and I was curious if this was real or fake.
I looked up her Facebook page and apparently she only has 11 friends (at the moment) and she has 2 pics online:
Definitely the same chick… even the same pictures from the commercial! Her profile lists her as a female musician in Los Angeles and the following info is included for her band tour dates:

That is a helluva way to launch a career! I bet you searches of Joanna Gikas and IO ECHO sky rocket… and then people will download their music on iTunes to sync with their Palm Pre!

I agree 100%, this feels really original and exciting and I’m also really digging the song… thanks for doing research on the band, I found a myspace page for them as well with more of their songs http://www.myspace.com/ioecho. I like the full length version of “Doorway” even more.

She is unbelievably talented. I’ve seen her perform in NYC at Webster Hall. I am glad Sprint recognized her talent and put her in this ad. Go Sprint! Congratulations Joanna!

She reminds me of (the late) Patti Donahue from the Waitresses (”I Know What Boys Like”, “Christmas Wrapping”). It is as if she were reincarnated 25 years after the Waitresses were big as she was back then….
