Power users will be able to testify that the Palm Pre will not last throughout a day. Personally my phone needs to be fully charged 3 times a day and that is just basic text messaging. Push notifications and 3G data really don’t help at all with this always on internet connection. Third-party battery manufacturer, Seidio has been creating a double-capacity battery for the handset but already have a one with a slight improvement.

The new battery is at 1,350mAh and offers somewhere just under 20-percent more charge than the standard 1,150mAh that is provided with the device. Unlike many larger capacity batteries this one has no size difference and should work flawlessly with the Touchstone battery cover.

Seidio estimates that the battery will hold 7.25 to 9.5hrs of battery life on a single charge. That is if you are getting between 6-8hrs with the standard battery. The extended life battery will run you about $44.95 which is about right for many replacement batteries. This begs the question, why in the world did Palm not go with a larger capacity battery given the nature of their WebOS?

Will this void any warranties or anything, or is this battery an officially sanctioned replacement part?

I mean I imagine being written up here, it’s probably not a piece of junk, but I just got my Pre and I’d hate to mess it up just trying to get a little extra life out of it, even if it does always die quickly.

Excess heat? Official support? Has anyone tried one of these bad larry’s out?
