classic ereaderE-books have really boomed in recent months from those offered by companies such as Amazon to simple apps you can download on your phone. Having an reader on your phone is almost a standard with smartphones these days.

They guys over at eReader.com are reported to working on an official eReader application for webOS handsets. Now we will have some other options than Shortycoves in the App Catalog. PreCentral contacted eReader about the development for webOS and they had this to say:

We are currently in the process of porting our reading software to the Palm Pre platform, webOS.  However, we cannot announce a release date at this time.  Any announcements about new releases of our software will be in future issues of the eReader.com Newsletter.

This news is showing tremendous growth for webOS as a hole. The more support we get from leading companies in key areas such as this the more promise we see down the road for webOS. What will we see next, perhaps we will see some social networking giants putting their support on webOS.
