Yahoo-im-on-unhacked-preOne of the members over at the PreCentral forums has come across a working and function Yahoo messenger on his Pre with webOS 1.2. This users Pre is completely stock meaning there are no patches or additions to enable such a feature.

Apparently there are a handful of people that were lucky enough to have Yahoo Messenger support added to their devices with the webOS 1.2 update. Just how such an odd occurrence happened is beyond me but we are sure this works better than the webos-internals team’s patch that adds Yahoo, ICQ and MSN support to the messaging app. What we do know is that Yahoo Messenger support is on the way because we saw it demonstrated on the Pixie. Has any of our readers been lucky enough to get Yahoo Messenger support?

I’ve loaded webOS 1.3.1 and now Yahoo shows us as a message option but it won’t take my yahoo ID or password to log on.

I myself have not had that problem but my Yahoo email now asks me to update my password every 5 minutes.
