FTOPS X event #19, a $216 NL Hold’em event with $400k guaranteed, ran today. It was hosted by Kelly Kim who is fresh off his 8th place finish at the 꽁머니 환전 main event. With 2526 entries, the tournament far exceeded its guarantee, topping out at just over $500k. Almost 30 of Full Tilt’s red pros showed up for the event and one of them (Aaron Bartley, who is having a great series) was at the top of the leader board right at the start. He, however, would slowly slide down and finish out of the money. The host of the event was also near the top for a while before going out in 516th place. Five of the red pros would make the money, with S Gromenkova finishing the highest in 70th place.
Going into the money it was zenbj123 who was in first. Imabigkidnow, who took down event #14, was close behind in 2nd. Zenbj123 made it to the final two tables but busted out in 17th place. The final table was one of unfamiliar faces this time, with half of the players showing little to no profit in Full Tilt tournaments before. In the end, EndlessAmbition beat out FantaKorn for first prize, taking home slightly over $100k. That money should make a big impact as, before the tournament began, EndlessAmbition only had $14k in prizes on Full Tilt this year. FantaKorn couldn’t have been too upset though, as his second place finish netted him $66k.
FTOPS X continued last night with its largest buy-in tournament so far this year. The $1000 + $60 no-limit event was hosted by FTP pro David Singer. This tournament matched the largest guarantee to this point of $1.5 million. Competitors in this event started with Full Tilt’s “super stack” of 5,000 in chips.
There were about 30 FTP red pros in this year’s even, which drew 1,469 players in total, not quite reaching the guarantee. However, there were only five red names in the money, Bruce Buffer, Huck Seed, Eddy Scharf, Jon “PearlJammed” Turner, and the young Norwegian player, Dag “dmmikkel” Mikkelsen, who finished highest among the red pros at 95th.
The top 162 players got paid, and in the end it was “agriffrod” coming in first and taking down the huge $322,500 top prize. Agriffrod is no stranger to big wins, with at least 3 scores over thirty-grand in the past 6 months.
Event #7 began November 8th, in the continuous line of events making up Full Tilt’s FTOPS X. This time around, 1,893 players were attracted by the $600,000 guarantee of the $100 + $9 No Limit Hold’em Rebuy tournament. Unfortunately, 68 players less than last season turned out.
A total of 2,658 rebuys and 1,083 add-ons made up the event. Players could rebuy an unlimited number of times up until level 5 of the tournament and were allowed at least one add-on. As a result of either a lack of rebuys, add-ons, or number of players, the prize pool was one of the few ones that did not exceed its guarantee.
Of the 1,893 entrants, 24 red pros ran for the Event #7 victory. Poker pro and host, Ryan Daut, finished in 1,427th place. After it was all said and done, cane3418 came out on top for the first place prize of $123,600. The only Full Tilt Pro to land in the money was Hans Martin Vogl who cashed out just before the cut in 188th place. He received $660 for his efforts.
